Accessibility
Every story should be readable by everyone, on any device, with any assistive technology.
1.The standard
The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
2.What that means in practice
- Text and controls meet AA contrast, and pages work zoomed to 200 percent and on a phone.
- Everything can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with a visible focus.
- Charts carry text: a headline that states the finding, labels, and the numbers in a table or a download.
- Motion stops for readers who ask their device to reduce motion, and every page prints or saves as a complete PDF.
- No cookie banners or pop-ups stand between you and the content.
3.How it is tested
Pages are checked with automated audits (Lighthouse), by keyboard, and in current versions of Edge, Chrome, Firefox and Safari's engine, on desktop and phone.
4.Known limits
Some scroll-driven sections and maps are visual by nature; their findings are also given in text, and the numbers behind them can be downloaded. Documents linked from the site (statutes, reports) are as their publishers made them.
5.Report a barrier
If something is hard to use, write to walterhillarykaijamahe@gmail.com with the page and what happened. You will get a reply and, where possible, the content in another format.
