How we work
Editorial independence
Findings, methodology, publication timing and conclusions are not controlled by any outside party. There is no sponsor, advertiser or funder as of this writing whose approval a story requires before publishing.
Data sourcing
Figures are sourced from primary, named authorities wherever possible — for the Gospel of Tax, directly from URA's own published data. Uganda Revenue Authority Annual Data Books; Uganda Bureau of Statistics (GDP, trade). Every chart carries a source note; see Methodology for the full pipeline.
Methodology
Every derived figure's formula is documented and the calculation is reproducible from the published canonical data — nothing is asserted without a traceable computation behind it.
Corrections
Material errors, once found, are corrected in public: what changed, why, and when. No corrections have been required to date; this policy exists so that if one is, it is handled openly rather than silently.
Funding
This publication is independently produced and is not currently funded by sponsorship, advertising or institutional grants. If that changes, the funding relationship and any conflicts of interest will be disclosed here.
Limitations
Data limitations are stated where they exist rather than smoothed over — see Methodology for the specific gaps and structural breaks in the current dataset. Claims beyond what the data supports are labelled as interpretation, not fact.
Reproducibility
The extraction, reconciliation and metrics pipeline behind the Gospel of Tax and the Tax Data Observatory is deterministic, tested, and re-runnable against the source workbook by design.
